Hey, I’m Mike! Thanks for stopping by – hopefully we’ll get to team up on a project…or go grab a scotch and cigar. Both would be cool, though!
While I spent the first part of my professional life in radio – 21 years – I was already training in voice over and acting. The transition was seamless, and I’ve never looked back.
In 2015, I took a workshop that helped me understand myself, my vibe, and how casting directors saw me. At the end, I received ‘essence statements’ – tools to help describe yourself in a type of “elevator pitch.” Here’s a few to give you a feel:
Mike is like…
- your friendly, next-door-neighbor with the best dog and wife most likely to throw the block party.
- the guy who will always answer the call to toss a football, play catch or kick around the soccer ball.
- an under-the-radar hometown hero.
I’ve utilized those and a few others in VO and acting ever since. And while I may not be your actual neighbor, I could be, because I’ve probably been in your home. No, not in some creepy way. But on your TV – either as the voice of Warby Parker, the promo voice for AMC’s Talking Dead, one of the Cap’n Crunch iterations, or any number of commercials. You’d probably also not even know that I have some TV or movie credits to boot.
And that’s the way I like it…under the radar.
I love what I do and continue to train to be at the top of this artistic field. My wife, Heidi – also an actress and VO talent – loves it too. So in 2016, we opened the Atlanta Voiceover Studio & ProVoiceoverTraining.com – a voice over training facility that helps people begin their journey of living their voice over dream.
If you’re ever in Atlanta, stop by the Atlanta Voiceover Studio to say hey. I’ll probably be there, and if I’m not in a session, we’ll fire up the Nespresso and chat for a few. And if it’s not early, then maybe we’ll have that whiskey.
